Spiritual, Scenic Wonders
One of the best combinations of spiritual interests and scenic beauty can be observed at Borra Caves near Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh state. Borra Caves spread over an area of one square kilometer. It is one of the largest caves in the Indian sub-continent and a must-see for nature loving tourists across the world. With an opening of 100 meters on a horizontal plane and about 75 meters on a vertical plane, are located at a height of 800 to 1300 meters above sea level – Bay of Bengal. Almost every tourist visits this place during his Araku trip that shares Ananthagiri Hills of Eastern Ghats. These caves are known for the breathtaking stalactite and stalagmite formations such as Shiva-Parvathi, Rishi's Beard, Mother-Child, Crocodile, Human Brain, Tiger and Cow’s udder. Both atheists and theists can enjoy after observing these formations as per their mindset.
Train Track on Top
Tourists can enjoy the formations and at the same time start worrying after knowing that a train is going above their heads at one point in the caves. This is the strength of the rocks that withstands the vibrations caused by the passage of the train which in turns gives excitement to the visitors. Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department made this area visitor – friendly by providing slip- free flooring and illuminated with lighting.

Discovered by William King George of the Geological Survey of India, this one million year old caves attract a huge number of tourists every day and have become one of the major attractions of Alluri Sita Rama Raju district which was part of Visakhapatnam before 2022. Tourists can reach this place by air after arriving at Visakhapatnam airport and by train at Visakhapatnam station. Both government and private operated guest houses and hotels including resorts while discovering the ways for satiating their taste buds with Bamboo Chicken, a specially made yummy item for non- veg lovers .
