Naming after Shiva and Parvathi
The abode of first couple Lord Shiva and Parvathi is Kailash and Giri means Hill combining these words, one beautiful tourist attraction that was situated in Visakhapatnam or Vizag is none other than Kailas Giri and by some locals it is being termed as Kailasagiri Konda (Hill) and Kailasagiri Parvatam (Mountain) and also Kailasa Hill. The hill was named after erecting 40 feet height statues of Lord Shiva and his better half Parvathi on the hill above 350 feet to the sea level, overlooking and safeguarding the people from the top. The hill area comes around 350 acres filled with flora and fauna.
Rope Way, Toy Train for Tourists
One can reach top of the hill by climbing steps and after reaching Kailasagiri train is available for roaming around the hill. This was developed by then Visakhapatnam Urban Development Authority, VUDA and now changed to Visakhapatnam Metro Region Development Authority VMRDA. Recently added attraction is Kailasagiri Rope Way and one can enjoy the beauty of Vizag City from top while sitting in a cable car operated through a steel rope. One can consume minimum three hours of time for watching every item on Kailasagiri Hill.

Watching and enjoying the scenic beauties of nature as enjoyed by hero and heroine of epic Hollywood movie Titanic can be repeated on Kailasagiri also as authorities have provided one spot. By standing at this point one can watch valley one side and roaring waves of Bay of Bengal on the other side. Tourists have no need bother about food as vegetarian and non- vegetarian dishes available at Kailasa Hill. Visakhapatnam train station is 9 KM away and airport 13 KM and bus station complex is 7 KM away. Thiru Namas erected on the hill representing the Lord Venkateswara’s face at Tirumula and with this both Shaivas and Vaishnavas can enjoy the trip.
