Rama’s Devotee, Carnatic Composer
Lord Sri Rama visited the ruler of Bhadrachalam, situated on the banks of the River Godavari, to save his devotee Kancharla Gopanna, popularly known as Devotee Ramdas, from corruption charges as he used tax collections for building a temple, along with his brother Laxmana, as per the history books. It is part of Dandakaranyam deep forest, where Sitha, Rama, and Laxman lived here for 14 years of forest life as per the edict of stepmother Kaikeya.
