Andhra Ooty Araku Valley
When you want to enjoy scenic beauty of nature along with engineering excellence the only place in Andhra Pradesh is none other than Araku and widely known as Andhra Ooty. The tribal area has been part of Alluri Sita Rama Raju district since 2022 and previously part of Visakhapatnam district. The hill station became famous and came into the limelight when a train track was established for transporting Iron Ore from Bailadila mines to Visakhapatnam Port for exporting through Kirandul – Kothavalasa line (KK Line) under the supervision of Japanese engineers. The highlight of the track is at one point the train engine and guard compartment nearly touches. The train passes through 58 tunnels and 54 bridges and at one point passengers can see 900 meters depth.
Flora and Fauna with Waterfalls
Tourists can enjoy a variety of flowers and different types of fruits at Padmanabham Gardens in Araku. Waterfalls at Chaparayi will definitely satiate the thirst of nature lovers. As Araku hills are part of Eastern Ghats one can observe the diversity of nature with fantastic flora and fauna that was exclusive for this place. Famous tribal dance style DHIMSA is a daily activity for entertaining tourists and reveals the essence of tribal womens life. Several types of honey are collected here by local people through apiculture under the supervision of GCC which also sells fine quality coffee powder.
Go in Train return by Road
As the train journey in return to Visakhapatnam takes place in the night tourists and scenery is not visible in the night tourists can avail of road facility during their return journey. Nearest airport and train station are Visakhapatnam only. Both private and Andhra Pradesh state government guest houses are available and one can avail of Resorts services also. One can enjoy Galikonda hill rising to a height of 5,000 feet (1,500 m) is amongst the highest peaks in Andhra Pradesh.
